Hello and welcome to my E-Portfolio! I heartily invite you to take a look around at work I’ve created for the Master’s of Library Science graduate program through Old Dominion University. My name is Jessica Drinks and I am currently an 18-year educator in King George, VA. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2000, I took a preschool teacher job and realized that my degree in psychology could be put to great use working with children. I pursued a Career Switcher program offered through Spotsylvania County Schools–one of the first programs of its kind at the time!–and earned my endorsements in Middle School Science and English. After getting hired as a life science teacher at King George Middle School, I quickly realized that teaching middle school students wasn’t much different than the preschoolers I had loved a few years before! I loved teaching so much that I finished my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in 2007. I was looking for a change in my setting (but not my profession) and decided to take classes through ODU to complete my endorsement in Library Science in 2017 followed by my MLIS in 2022 (also through ODU). I’ve happily had the position of Library Media Specialist at my middle school for seven years now.
