I was born in Ohio, and lived in Florida for many years. Ohio taught me generally good manners and Florida provided the fun stories. In 1998, I earned a BA in Communications with minor in History from University of North Florida. I was an older student then. The plan was to work in advertising, but I fell in love with genealogy. The cold feet were just as well because at the time, advertising only really loved younger women. In 2011, I began as a contract genealogist for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration working on a variety of shipwreck projects. The majority of my dearest friends died in the 19th century. From 2017 – 2020, I worked as a contract archivist for a US Department of Justice project.  I also contributed a chapter to the book Robert J. Walker: The History and Archaeology of a Pioneer Steamship of the U.S. Coast Survey, University Press of Florida, 2020. I am waiting out the end of the Covid era at home, anxious to collect new skills and knowledge for the next chapter.
