About Me

Hello!  My name is Sarah Orebaugh.  I am a teacher, wife and mother of two daughters.  I grew up in Ohio but have lived in the wonderful city of Virginia Beach for 19 years following college graduation.  This is my first masters degree and I am extremely proud of the hard work and effort I put into this program.  Balancing work, family, school and life is no small feat.  It is my hope that I have inspired my girls when they saw how hard “mommy worked in college”.

I am currently a 3rd grade teacher in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  I have taught for 19 years and each year has been very different and extremely rewarding.  I have always secretly wanted to be a librarian…and now my little dream is becoming a reality.

I have a strong love and passion for books.  I love to read to my class and especially my two young daughters.  I hope to foster a love of reading in my students and children.  I am a lifelong reader and lover of books.  As a new librarian, I hope to create other lifelong readers and information seekers.

My portfolio is a glimpse into all of the hard work and passion I have for my studies and becoming a librarian.  Throughout the tabs you will find evidence of the growth that I have undergone during my time in the MLIS program.  It will be evident that I have developed as an instructional leader, information specialist and program manager.  You will find my philosophy, resume, 7 artifacts as evidence of the AASL standards, explanation of the AASL standards, and additional resources that I find valuable.

Thank you for taking the time to view my ePortfolio, a labor of love!
