Hi!
My name is MyKayla Moore and I am a Junior majoring in Computer Science with hopes of becoming a Software or Applications developer. Seeing my major probably has you like, “Computer Science major….. but in a Human Service class? How does that work?” Well, although I am sort of a computer freak, I also have a niche for helping people, especially women. Prior to this service learning trip, I have been working with teens and adolescents for a while now with the Christian organization, YoungLife. YoungLife has sub groups for middle school children, children with special needs, and teen moms. I have been wanting to work with YoungLives, the teen mom camp, for a while but I’ve had no luck due to scheduling. Then I was allotted this wonderful opportunity to do the same thing but in Jamaica. I jumped at the chance and a few months later I was taking the class and on a plane to Jamaica. That’s how I got involved with human services being a CS major.
Anyways, I like to do normal 20 year old activities like go out, relax, binge watch my fav shows, go to concerts- the whole 9 honestly. Luckily for me, I can do all those things at ODU while still doing fairly well in my classes. Aside from the extra-extracurriculars, I like to read, travel, spend time with the fam, of course, and chill. That’s all I can say, follow me to find out more!
