Hey, I’m Blake Murphy. I graduated from Potomac High School back in May 2024, and am currently attending Old Dominion University. I was born and grew up in the state of Virginia, and enjoy video games, reading, and long walks.

I’m looking to attain my Bachelor’s Degree in ODU to expand my cybersecurity knowledge and secure my future. I’ve been in a few introductory cybersecurity courses back during high school, but I am happy to continue learning about Cybersecurity as I continue along my semesters at Old Dominion University.

I also intend on obtaining an internship before the four years are over. I know it’s a requirement for graduation, but I also think that experience itself is the key to succeeding in the field. Internships give you the easiest way to gain that experience, so it’s something I definitely want to look into later down the line.

Professional Goals

I aim to use my Bachelor’s degree to obtain a career I can continually learn from and reference throughout the remainder of my life. While there are an exceedingly high amount of options for career paths, I think the most interesting choices would be looking into cybersecurity engineering or some form of penetration testing akin to white hat hacking. I believe that a career you would want to involve yourself in for an extremely long time should inherently be interesting to ensure you don’t spend life bored.
