My name is Myka Williams, and I am currently a senior studying Health Service Administration. I am completing my internship as a Behavior Technician at Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI) in Falls Church, VA. NVMHI is a state psychiatric hospital dedicated to actively promoting the recovery of individuals with serious mental illness through safe, efficient, and effective services. Its mission is to inspire hope and deliver service excellence, fostering an environment that supports recovery and reintegration into the community.

At NVMHI, we provide inpatient psychiatric treatment, including therapy, medication management, and case management services. Our team is committed to delivering the care and resources necessary to stabilize individuals and support their return to their communities.

My preceptor is Anne Marie Ramano, a Registered Nurse II (Supervisor) with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and six years of experience in her current role. As a mentor, Ms. Ramano plays a vital role in my professional development by offering guidance, instruction, and hands-on experience in both clinical and academic settings. Her mentorship is instrumental in enhancing my clinical skills, improving patient care practices, and preparing me for a successful career in psychiatric healthcare.
