About Me

Hello! My name is Preston Hudlow, and I’m a recent Marine Biology graduate from Old Dominion University with a minor and certification in GIS and Spatial Analysis of Coastal Environments. I’m passionate about marine conservation, sustainable fisheries management, and using spatial data to inform science-based decisions that protect coastal and ocean ecosystems.

My field experience includes serving as a NOAA-certified Fisheries Observer in the Bering Sea and North Pacific, where I collected biological and catch data to support fisheries stock assessments and ensure compliance with federal regulations. I also worked as a Fisheries Interviewer with QuanTech, conducting dockside and at-sea data collection to contribute to sustainable fisheries management efforts.

Before pursuing my marine science career, I spent over a decade in hospitality management, where I developed leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills that now serve me well in independent and demanding field environments.

I’m especially interested in coastal monitoring, marine spatial analysis, and fisheries research, and I aim to continue applying my technical and field experience to projects that promote healthy marine ecosystems and informed environmental policy.

Being born in VA Beach I loved visiting the ocean and marine life has always piqued my curiosity. This page was created to start collecting my own record of studies and previous job references to create an ePortfolio for future employers/institutes.
