Hello, my name is Patrick. I am a concurrent enrollment student at ODU, taking my ADN courses through VPCC in Williamsburg, where I also work as a Patient Care Tech in the ICU at Sentara. Prior to entering the healthcare field last February, I owned a small custom furniture shop, which I operated for seven years. While I absolutely loved working in the shop, building tables and chairs for my clients, the business side of things inevitably became too much to handle on my own, leading me to close my doors for good in the Fall of 2023.
Since accepting a position as a sitter with Sentara at the beginning of 2024, I have found new purpose and motivation, in going back to school. To keep a very long story short, my first attempt at college was… unsuccessful. I was apprehensive to start over from scratch at 35, but it has turned out to be a decision that I wish I had made ten years ago.
In my very limited spare time, I enjoy running and hiking. I have become more interested in longer distances over the years and have a goal to complete a 50 Miler by the time I earn my RN – 100 Miles is the bucket list race, but we’re taking baby steps for now (albeit lots of them…) I’m really looking forward to getting to know everybody and supporting each other through this next step in our careers!
