Hello! My name is Olivia Schuch but I more commonly go by Vi. I am currently a 3rd-year student at Old Dominion University. My major is Psychology and I am hoping to go into counseling as a career in the future. If all goes according to plan I will be specializing in dealing with either PTSD or eating disorders in adolescents because I feel I’ll be able to make the most impact in that field. They are both heavily stigmatized disorders, thereforem teens and young adults who suffer with them may not be able to get resources to help them deal with these issues outside of counseling. My specific interests in psychology are the previously mentioned disorders, and also the after-effects of trauma on the human mind. I am most excited to learn about the reasoning behind prejudices because that will hopefully help me to understand why some of the disorders I encounter in my field are so heavily stigmatized in society.
