Bio

Hello, my name is Scott Coronado, and I’m majoring in sports management and am currently in my second semester of graduate school at Old Dominion University. I recently graduated from ODU this past May with a degree in sports management. I was born in Fairfax, VA, but a couple of years ago, I moved to Fredericksburg, VA. I’ve lived in Virginia my whole life; however, I’m also Peruvian, with both of my parents being born in Lima, Peru. I’m incredibly proud to be Peruvian and wanted to learn Spanish when I was younger in order to speak to my family back in Peru. I was lucky enough to be able to visit Peru back in 2019, but unfortunately haven’t been back since.

My sports journey originally began when I was younger, playing soccer, but I was never able to get into the sport. Afterwards, I began to play the sport I love today, basketball. I stuck with basketball from elementary school all the way to my sophomore year of high school. When I first started watching basketball, I was a Laker fan because of Kobe Bryant. However, I wanted to switch to being a Washington Wizards fan because I want to watch the team I supported in person often. I also realized how fortunate I was to have a basketball team so close to where I’m from. During this time, was when I got to see my favorite player of all time, John Wall, play. Now I’ve grown to like other sports as well, like watching more football and becoming a Washington Commanders fan. Also coincidently I started to like watching soccer a couple of years ago, and I’m also an Aston Villa fan.

With my professional career, I hope to become a basketball scout for the NBA. After years of playing basketball, I was able to gain knowledge about the sport that I want to use. Additionally, the Washington Wizards’ struggles over the years sparked my interest in researching potential players of need that they could draft each year. Of course, there are things that I may not know about being a great scout, but I’m always willing to learn new ways to improve. This blog was created based on past experiences that have helped create the person I am today. I hope this blog helps push my creativity and serves as something I can look back on in the future. It will also serve as a reminder of how hard I’m working in graduate school.
