My experience in customer service and my studies in cybersecurity are helping me to build the skills and perspective I need to explore a future in the cybersecurity field.

Hi everyone! My name is Shayla, and I am a sophomore at Old Dominion University majoring in Cybersecurity. My interest in cybersecurity grew as I became more curious about technology and how important it is to protect information in our growing digital world.

One thing that has influenced me throughout my education and work experience is my background in customer service. I have spent many years working with people, solving problems, and learning how to stay organized in fast paced environments. Although customer service and cybersecurity may seem very different, I have realized that skills such as communication, attention to detail, patience, and problem solving are important in both fields.

As I continue my college education, my goal is to explore the different areas of the field and discover where my interests and skills fit best. I am excited to build my technical skills and learn more about the many career opportunities cybersecurity has to offer.
