About Me

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to view my site! I am excited to be here with you. This is my first adventure into blogging and so far I am enjoying the experience.

My name is Janis and I am a registered dental hygienist in northern Virginia. I practice clinically four days a week on top of juggling family life and college classes. I am also active in my local and state level hygiene associations. I am a huge advocate for professional development and continuing education and so here I am, a college student once again. Although I enjoy my work immensely, I have recently been considering transitioning into either clinical counseling or education. I have learned through the years that I love interacting with people, but I do not enjoy being the center of attention. I am a people watcher and a problem fixer by nature and I think that helps me to help my patients become comfortable in the dental chair. I am taking the last few classes needed to obtain a bachelor degree in dental hygiene (with a psychology minor) and when that is completed I will most likely continue on to a masters level program.

Out of all the classes I have taken over the years the psychology and anatomy classes have been my favorites. I am very interested in learning about how and why people communicate with each other as they do and I hope that this class, social psychology, will prove interesting and enlightening.
