My name is Samuel (Sam) Oates, I am a graduate of Old Dominion University receiving my BS in Cybersecurity (STEM) in May 2020 with a 3.57 GPA. I have several years experience in IT and cybersecurity, as well as a varied background in management, business and healthcare.
Cybersecurity was my choice of degree because it is the wave of the future. When we look at today’s society, it is currently plagued with a flood of bad actors who only look to steal and compromise other networks. Industries must protect their infrastructure. If an organization is not compliant with the governance of information security, it could lead to a disastrous outcome resulting in the breach of private data and potential harm to millions of people. I believe these threats are interesting and I want to be on the front line of society’s defense.
