Hello, I’m Tammy Rizo, a U.S. Army veteran and cybersecurity student at Old Dominion University with an associate degree in computer science and experience in graphic design, entrepreneurship, and management. My goal is to build a career in cybersecurity where I can help protect people, their information, and the systems they rely on.
My experiences in the military, design, entrepreneurship, and management have led to me the path of cybersecurity. During my military service, I worked in graphic design and illustration. Those experiences strengthened my creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. My experience in entrepreneurship and management also helped me develop leadership, adaptability, and communication skills. I continue to apply all these skills to my education and professional growth.
I chose cybersecurity because protecting people and information is essential in today’s digital world. I am especially interested in cloud security, artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, and opportunities to work internationally. I also hope to educate others about cybersecurity and the practical steps they can take to protect themselves and their information online.
As I continue my cybersecurity journey, I look forward to expanding my knowledge, earning industry certifications, and gaining hands-on experience that will prepare me to make a meaningful contribution to the field.
