1. Describe three ways that computers have made the world safer and less safe.

I believe computes are beneficial when it comes to storing data but this two can be harmful. With this being said the use of data encryption allows information that is only supposed to be seen by you possible. Data encryption makes it harder for someone to hack into your information and gives you more protection. Another way computers have made this world safer is the use of passwords and multi factor authentication. As technology becomes more advance, so do the securities that come with it. Multi factor authentication makes it harder for an individual to get into your information. Here at Old Dominion University, when we log into our accounts, we use this Multi factor authentication, some may find this stressful, especially when it comes to keeping the password and changing it from time to time but this has been proven beneficial because of PII and how it can be stolen if not stored properly. Lastly, computers are safer in my opinion because if not everything, most things can be tracked back to the source and law enforcement is cracking down on hackers and those who are using computers to commit crimes. With out this technology, bad guys would continue to roam the streets.

2. How do engineers make cyber networks safer?

One way that engineers make cyber networks safe is by creating codes that are implemented into softwares that allow protection over networks. They change and mix up their style. They are always looking for ways to implement new items and techniques on their own. The more that is there the harder it is for a hacker to get through. They also set guidelines on what to do in case of an unfortunate event that a hacker does breakthrough. Every company has its own set of guidelines but it’s always very good to have some everyone knows what to do in case it does happen. Engineers are very observant they watch and look for when other companies get attacked and then they find out how and then improve that area themselves.
