Regarding the sample data breach document, two economic theories that relate are Marxian economic theory and Rational choice theory. Marxian economic theory is described as those with power exploiting those without power. In this case, those with power would be those behind the data breach. By stealing customers’ credit card information, they are directly exploiting those who were left powerless to defend their information once provided to the website. Rational choice theory applies to the websites’ choice to use a third party to manage the transactions. Choosing to leave this up to a third party places the responsibility to protect its customers information to the third party, this choice could have been made due to the cost of investing in the sites on cyber security.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two social sciences theories that relate to this sample document are Rational choice theory and Cultural materialism. We see rational choice theory again regarding the customer’s choice to agree to use a third-party website or any website for a financial transaction. Cultural materialism relates to this document since the society we live in has become so heavily reliant on technology.
