This outreach programs provides low-income pregnant women, postpartum mothers, infants, and children up to the age of 5 with nutritional foods, dietary education, counseling and health care services. In order to receive WIC services receipts must meet statutory income guidelines or are deemed income-eligible by associating themselves with such programs as Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). In addition to qualifying as income- eligible, receipts must meet the criteria of a health assessment conducted by a health professional. This process along with other aspects of the WIC program can greatly be improved by improving communication between the client/case worker and continuously working with other facilities in the community.
