The Newington Baptist Church Clothes Closet in Gloucester County, VA has served the area for 22 years.  It is the only free clothing resource in three counties, so its clients come from different parts of the Middle Peninsula area.  It was established to help clients within the community meet their clothing needs and help them locate food banks within the community, as well as offering spiritual guidance when needed.   It is staffed only by volunteers who clean, sort, and organize the clothing, and assist the clientele during open hours twice a month.  They are open one Wednesday and one Saturday a month.  However, they also help with special requests throughout the month and receive requests from a local homeless agency, in particular.  

        I focused my evaluation on the categories of clothing that are most in demand by the community and how the Clothes Closet impacts the community members it serves.  This evaluation will also help this organization better identify how much of a positive impact they are having within their clients’ lives and within their community.
