Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>The Up Center provides an ample amount of resources to its community.\u00a0 It helps the surrounding communities with resources for children, families, people in crisis, people with disabilities, and military and veteran families.\u00a0 The program that will be evaluated is Healthy Families and Parent as Teachers.\u00a0 Both programs are a free home visitation style program for families and provide developmental screening, referrals to community resources, family connection opportunities, support during pregnancy and many more areas of support.\u00a0 Healthy families require the family to live in the city of Norfolk, be pregnant or have a three month or younger baby, and provides help for one child until the child turns five.\u00a0 Parents as Teachers requires families to live in the city of Norfolk or Portsmouth, has a child four years of age or younger at enrollment, and provides help for every child younger than five within the household.\u00a0 The family may remain in the program until the last child enters kindergarten.<\/p>\n<p>Contact was made with Rosalind Hopkins, the Prevention Services Supervisor at The Up Center and she was informed of the needs of this course\u2019s evaluation.\u00a0 When a counselor has the time available along with a willing client to be observed and interviewed a \u201cshadow\u201d will be set up.\u00a0 The Up Center that is being evaluated is located in Portsmouth, VA, with a mission to protect children and empower people in crisis<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evaluator Reasoning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Healthy Families and Parents as Teachers was an area of interest because it offers help for families with small children.\u00a0 It offers the chance for someone to enter the home with an unbiased mindset and set of eyes to help observe and evaluate your family dynamic along with offering ways to help the families little ones and caregivers.\u00a0 The agency relates to my future personal and professional goals by offering the help to the family that has children.\u00a0 By providing the evaluation for this program, I am also allowing myself a front row seat to an opportunity to work with the families in need.\u00a0 I would
