Task 9 Reflective Letter

Task 9 is not required. I thought it would be good to reflect on different things I have learned from this course and have a little fun with the letter. This course was a little difficult for me at first. I like to know beforehand what is expected from the student in each course and for some reason I had a difficult time grasping some of the concepts. I decided to google the course and sure enough there were prior posted wordpress examples that I was able to read and more understand what I was supposed to do for each task. Thank the Lord for that! I am a 42 year old returning student and sometimes I feel intimidated and anxious over digital requirements for coursework. This was a blessing indeed. Another important thing I cannot stress enough is when you save a document in Microsoft Word make sure you label it so you can find it at a later date. I learned this the hard way. All of my documents were saved under documents 1-12. Most of task 10 requires posting previous completed tasks. It is much easier to have them labeled properly the first time instead of searching everywhere for them.

I definitely feel like I have grasped the concept of program evaluation. There are many techniques to program evaluation and many factors to take into consideration. I imagine these skills come with practice and experience in the field of program evaluation. I feel confident that I could perform a basic program evaluation again as I did for this course.

Unfortunately we had to complete the data collection portion of the course right when the COVID-19 pandemic crisis came into full view. The governor actually placed many restrictions on public gathering and a new term became very familiar with us….social distancing. The Ronald McDonald Charity House went into full lockdown because many of the families staying at the charity house have children who are immunocompromised. It is very important to make sure that these children stay safe and to make sure as to not expose them to this deadly virus. I was still able to collect some data through the gracious office manager, Vickie Kennedy.

I wanted to do something nice for Ms. Kennedy for her help with this project. I decided to sew her some facemasks for the staff and other families staying there. Trust me when I say that masks and toilet paper could actually double for currency right now. They are both in high demand and you can’t seem to find either anywhere. Hopefully this simple gesture will show her how grateful I am for her help.
