Task 1

The agency that I decided to evaluate is Western Tidewater Community Service Board. They offer a number of services including but not limited to substance abuse counseling, mental health counseling, and intellectual disability services.

The agency that I decided to evaluate is Western Tidewater Community Service Board. Their mission is to provide a coordinated system of quality recovery oriented care in mental health, intellectual disability, and substance abuse services. They also offer several unrelated services that are provided based on the needs of the community. Western Tidewater’s wide range of services extend to all age groups. They serve youth, adults, and seniors. There are several locations in Suffolk, VA. They have locations in downtown, uptown, and the harbor view area. I chose Western Tidewater Community Service Board to evaluate because my love for human services came from my time volunteering at this agency in high school. I was able to learn valuable lessons about the field and build professional relationships with some of the employees at the downtown Suffolk location.

I expanded on my initial post in order to fully cover the prompt and to provide clarity about my decision to evaluate Western Tidewater Community Service Board.
