Week One Journal Entry

Am I an entrepreneur? Absolutely, in more ways than one. By definition, an entrepreneur is someone who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater financial risk to do so. By this definition, I would be considered an entrepreneur. I am entrepreneur and my business would be me. Starting my journey to my degree in degree was the first big initial investment in myself. Along my journey to my cybersecurity degree, I have continued to build my brand by researching and networking with my target audience, creating a focus and personality to ingratiate myself in the world I want to be in, creating a resume, tailored to my target audience and lastly marketing myself in my career field market to create experiences and opportunities for myself and hopefully put myself in a financially stable position to recoup my investments while creating lasting revenue.

Success is self fulfilled happiness come to fruition. Happiness is defined through experiences and Christ. Every person has a unique experience as to what makes them truly happy. My experiences with true happiness are gained through adventure, acts of kindness, quality time with friends and family and most importantly, peace filled days spent by myself in worship and thanks for the life I have. If I am able to create happiness for myself, then I believe myself to be successful. My best description of success is ascertained through my relationship with God. Through him I am able to create pockets of happiness by taking time to self evaluate and reflect with him.

A self starter is someone takes initiative to begin work without being prompted. Honestly speaking, if it serves my interests, then I can be called a self starter. In all activities of bettering myself, I do not need a push to complete the task. However, in terms of things that do not captivate my attention immediately, I have been known to procrastinate, a trait I have been overcoming, slowly. I may be considered a selfish self starter but with everything I start, I will complete. My drive to be the best version of myself outweighs my desire to push it off or produce sub par work. When self-starting, I have to remember that I will not like every task I’m given but, all of them serve a purpose and should be taken on with the same voracity as tasks, that do serve my self interest.

My place in the ecosystem isn’t limited to one role. I think I have several roles in the ecosystem. In general humans are a vital part of the ecosystem. As an individual, my primary role is to take care of the Earth by keeping my CO2 emissions as low as possible. My secondary role is replenishing and creating new life for the things taken from Earth. Lastly, my most important role in the ecosystem, is to make my mark. By doing my part and making my mark, I help maintain the Earth’s fragile homeostasis. In the long term, my part in the scheme of things can elongate the life span of Earth. In the short term of thing, my contributions will leave the world in better shape then when I arrived.
