Over the first five weeks of instruction I have noticed slight improvement in my writing skills. I have only noticed the improvement at the start of week three. Before this class, I was having trouble on placing too many commas where they do not belong. I know, that sounds weird, but it is true. While most students have trouble with not placing enough commas I have always been the opposite. Commas have always been my weakness when it comes to writing papers and writing in general. Even in my fiction stories, I am a horrible commas placer. When I first started this class, I thought that I was a decent writer and have been told that on a site called Wattpad, a site for stories. My followers have all said how much of a good writer I am to the point of me believing them. Then when I entered this class, the opposite was deemed true. I have too many commas and my grammar is off by a long shot. Even at this time in the semester, my grammar is not at all good. The instruction and peer review in this class has helped me open up to people as that is not a strong point of mine either, especially with my writing, as hard as that may seem to think about. It took me forever to convince myself to post my fiction stuff online and now that I do, I do not go around telling people my username and the titles of my stories. Throughout the course of the last couple weeks though, I have opened up a bit, knowing that I am not the only person my age who struggles with the concept of writing in general. Even though these people do not like to write as much as I do, they are still in sort of the same boat as me. This class so far has helped me in more ways than with just grammar. It has helped me with writing styles and notetaking as well. However, I still tend to stick to one note taking style, the professor has told us to explore different styles and so I am trying to take her up on that option. All in all, this course so far has helped me in more ways than one and I look forward to at least try to learn more from this morning class.
