As cyber technology has become more integrated into our everyday lives there is bound to be both positive and negative impacts such as the increase in cybercrime. There has been a significant shift in the way we see crime from before and after technology was introduced. Previously, the only way for a criminal to steal something, for example, was by physically being there to take it. Nowadays offenders can commit crimes in a whole other side of the world that they’re not on because of their criminal use of cyber technology. With that being said, most offenders don’t ever come face to face with their victims because they are able to steal data or gain unauthorized access completely online. This can be seen as both a positive and negative impact on the interactions between offenders and criminals. On one hand, a criminal being physically present can make it far easier to catch, identify, and prosecute rather than cyber criminals that could be anywhere in the world. On the other hand, victims are likely to experience PTSD or other similar negative impacts if they fall victim to a crime where the perpetrator is physically present because of the stress of the situation.
