Select four Majors offered by ODU and explain how those Majors relate to Cybersecurity.

Electrical and Computer Engineering. ECE engineers develop and carry out the hardware and software components of computer systems, including networking infrastructure, embedded systems, and internet of things (IoT) devices. These elements are valuable to cyber-attacks, such as malware, and unauthorized access. ECE engineers are responsible for securing the communication networks used in finance, healthcare, transportation, and government. ECE engineers employ their expertise in computer architecture, digital signal processing, and communication systems to design secure systems, carry out encryption algorithms, and develop intrusion detection and prevention mechanisms to protect against cyber threats.

Information and Communication Technology. ICT refers to the use of technology to process, store, and exchange information, while cybersecurity involves protecting this information from unauthorized access, use, or disruption. ICT systems raises concerns about privacy and data protection. Cybersecurity plays a crucial role in safeguarding sensitive information, such as personal data, financial records, and intellectual property, from unauthorized access or theft.

E-Business and E-Commerce. One of the main areas where E-Business and E-Commerce intersect with cybersecurity is the protection of sensitive customer information. Online transactions involve the exchange of personal and financial data, such as credit card numbers and addresses. Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of this information is to safeguarding customer trust and preventing identity theft or fraud.

Criminal Justice. criminal justice and cybersecurity are extremely intertwined, with cybersecurity playing a major role in guarding the integrity of the criminal justice system and combating cybercrimes. Cybersecurity also plays a critical role in protecting Government agencies, law enforcement organizations, and all court handle sensitive data, including personal information, case records, and classified materials. Breaches in the criminal justice system can have Major consequences, including compromising ongoing investigations, compromising the safety and privacy of victims and witnesses, and eroding public trust in the justice system.
