Cybersecurity risks exist for every country that has access to the internet. The only way to get rid of those risks and vulnerabilities is to completely disconnect from the internet, and that is an action that is considerably unreasonable to follow through with because there will be more negative consequences, and not positive. Because of this, nearly every country is at risk for cyber attacks, but there are certain degrees of risk depending on how technology based that country is. Every country is different, and some countries are riskier than others. Wealthier countries tend to be targeted more than other countries because of the economic gains that can be made from it, but poorer countries can be exploited for a variety of reasons. When it comes to the U.S., it is one of the top countries likely to be cyberattacked, and it is very common to their citizens. Though when it comes to botnet spam, Vietnam, India, China, and Russia take the prize. Botnet spam is a cluster of malware infected machines that are capable of flooding inboxes with spam at once. When it comes to phishing attacks, the United States is targeted the most, but Brazil, China, and Russia also have problems with this. Phishing is sending fraudulent emails pretending to be from reputable companies in order to reveal personal information. The United states is also ranked high in list for the top pirating countries with Ukraine, China, and Russia. Digital piracy is the illegal distribution of copyrighted materials. There have been attempts to try and locate where the bulk of cybercrimes are coming from, but it is not so cut and dry. Countries that are more connected to the internet tend to be responsible for most of the cybercrimes committed, but the wealthiest countries tend to send more spam, also.
