Cyber policy is important because it regulates every aspect of digital data exchange. The more that technology evolves and the more integrated the internet becomes into our daily lives, the more vital cyber policy and infrastructure becomes. It is something that is constantly being needed to be looked into as time goes on, because of the ever-evolving cyber technology, but To have a well organized, structured, and working infrastructure means to have predictable variables that can help lay out the foundation of said infrastructure, which is something that is difficult to grasp. It is near impossible to predict when a cyber attack is going to occur, and it is even more difficult to know what kind of attack it may be. This becomes an even bigger issue in a country like the United States because of the very limited restraints that are on the internet because of freedom of speech, privacy, and accessibility. Also, it is not possible to create an accurate cyber policy to a system that is constantly evolving. How technology will influence an individual’s daily life will be largely different compared to today, and the same goes for how it is being used by cyber criminals. Because of that, cyber security policy involves a strenuous amount of effort to figure out what is best for everyone that does not limit their citizen’s rights. This makes it even more difficult because this is a fairly new issue, considering there is barely no historical data to rely on for structuring. To approach developing cyber policy and infrastructure, I think that it is best to start off by thinking about cyber security as a whole. It is important to list out the major issues that need to be addressed at the forefront, and branch out on the specifics afterwards. To create a policy that can be used in the present and the future, it is important to think about what can be done to limit ambiguity.
