For this current module, each student was asked to choose someone in the sports communication world who works in a professional field. The person I chose to reach out to to be my professional penpal is former Vanderbilt offensive lineman, on air color analyst for MyTV30/Fox17, Audio Visual Production Teacher and now wrestling coach, Bruno Reagan. I first learned about Bruno when he played offensive line at Vanderbilt, the same university my brother played football at. After helping Vanderbilt’s Keyshawn Vaughan break many school records, while also earning SEC offensive lineman of the week in 2017, Bruno went off to play football in the USFL for a few years, notably playing for the St. Louis battle Hawks.
After his athletic career, though still practicing Martial Arts, Bruno made his way into the broadcasting field. Bruno is currently the On-Air Color Analyst for MyTV30, a high school sports broadcast channel for sports in central Tennessee. I figured Bruno would be a perfect person to have be a penpal for this class, not only because of prior knowledge of him, but from Bruno’s résumé, you can tell that he’s someone who’s worked in a lot of different fields, at a lot of different levels. From being an SEC offensive lineman, to covering high school football, I think that is a good showing of the different levels and ranges. He’s been able to deal with and handle things while being professional. It is also great to have someone who has graduated from such a prestigious university who is using communication skills in a work and professional environment.

Bruno and I got in contact through being mutual followers on Instagram, and this is where I decided to reach out to him. After giving him a brief introduction, I informed him about the class I was in, and what the purpose of me reaching out was for, which he replied with his email, and told me to reach out whenever I needed to. So far, the communication aspect has been very smooth and easy, and I hope it stays that way.
