I am interested in cyber technology because of the beneficial purpose it has in modern-day software and hardware. I think that cybersecurity plays a big part in keeping data and information safe due to all the ongoing cyber attacks going and different types of phishing occurring. Cybersecurity ensures the safety of different websites from getting breached such as big tech corporations. There was an article that I read that someone breached amazons website and shut it off which caused amazon to lose almost millions of dollars for the few hours it was closed. I think that the company would rather pay someone 6 figures instead of them losing 9 figures within hours. This showed me how much power cyber security can have and how many things can go wrong even if you have the best type of firewall protecting your site or anything. The cyber security benefit is growing at a rapid pace due to the amount of cybercrime occurring every single day there was an article where every 30 seconds a cybercrime occurs dealing with information-stealing or trying to access your important stuff like bank accounts. The amount of phishing occurring rapidly is ridiculous and the number of people not realizing that they might be putting their information on a site where someone can most likely steal everything easily without them knowing. In 2017 the cybersecurity industry started growing due to they introduced a cyber security act where the government started taking the web seriously because they believed that our next problem can be in the computer such as hackers trying to attack America’s great infrastructure or the pipeline hack that happened which cause one of the biggest panics. Ever since that bill was signed companies started taking things seriously and started to want to protect their consumers from cyber attack and their information so it doesn’t end up going into the wrong person’s hand which can later cause them a big chunk of money. Cyber security will keep growing and the amount of growth it has is tremendous because as technology grows crime grows with it and things will need to be started taking it seriously.
