How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?

Workplace deviance is when someone purposely attempts to destroy/sabotage a company by creating problems within the workplace. According to Hrzone there are two sides to workplace deviance and those are, “Interpersonal deviance, which attempts to sabotage relationships through activities like gossiping, lying and apportioning blame, and organisational deviance, such as lateness or theft of equipment (Hrzone. 2013, July 29).” But how can cyber technology create opportunities for workplace deviance? Well accidents may happen when someone authorized is setting up the workers accounts they may accidentally give them access to more information than they are supposed to have, and knowing this information can cause a lot of problems especially if people start to find out about it. Like stories I have heard in the past, some people might gain information they are not supposed to know and sell that information to other people.

Among the problems healthcare sectors are the most vulnerable to attacks, with mostly all their information and data on online servers and/or in patient portals. This makes it easier for people to hack into and expose information about people, especially because social security numbers, home addresses, pharmacies and medications, and lots of other things are stored in these portals. Although the cyber field is changing everyday, there are still many ways people can commit crimes to cause workplace deviance but ways we can try to slow down these are by not letting workers bring in personal items such as laptops and other things that may let them access things they are not supposed to, and just paying attention to the way they are acting towards everyone and how they act and how long they stay in their offices but after all the government is working on laws to pass to help stop this type of deviant behavior.
