Prompt: Review the NICE Workforce Framework.  Are there certain areas that you would want to focus your career on?  Explain which areas would appeal the most to you and which would appeal the least.

After reviewing the NICE Workforce Framework, I am most interested in a career under either the “Operate and Maintain” or “Protect and Defend” sections. These categories appeal to me because they encompass hands-on positions and fulfill defensive roles in cybersecurity. For “Operate and Maintain,” I enjoy creating and managing networks and educating people on how to use an organization’s information systems securely. Furthermore, I am interested in the “Protect and Defend” section because it involves the active monitoring and protection of a network. Once a threat is identified, I would need to use technical skills to mitigate it. Combined, these two categories would allow me to have hands-on work that both prevents threats and responds to incidents on my employer’s network. Conversely, I am least interested in the “Oversee and Govern” and “Analyze” categories. While I understand the importance of jobs in these categories, I am not particularly interested in administrative work or a job that requires the analysis of large amounts of complex information. I would rather be the person who collects data for analysis rather than be the one who analyzes it.
