tackling the course head on.
The main takeaways I got from the course objectives was that we will learn how to identify the people’s though processes regarding the formation of friendships and relationships, and how people attempt to understand and cooperate with others in social settings. What intrigued me the most however, is that we will be learning about and discussing the origins of discrimination and prejudice. I believe this knowledge should be taught to all students, not just psychology students, because if we as a society are to completely discard all elements of prejudice, then everybody must have a thorough grasp of its roots and effects so we may successfully eliminate it.
I personally would like to further my education and study law and hopefully one day become a lawyer. Thats why I believe its of the upmost importance to learn about the processes of how attitudes are formed and changed and how it effects behavior. I believe this would help me significantly in the future as knowledge of attitudes and behavior is instrumental in beginning to understand the motive of others.
I expect to learn a lot in this course. Hopefully this course will help me to further my understanding of the human thought processes and how those thoughts accompany and induce certain behaviors, either negative or positive.
To ensure my success in this course I plan on reading and rereading the textbook thoroughly along with all other handouts presented by the instructor, taking good, solid notes, and studying.
