At the base of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, there are physiological needs like food, water, and rest. In today’s very digital world I have used my phone many times to order food with apps like UberEATS and groceries with apps like Instacart. The next level is safety and security needs. For these needs I often use a two- step authentication for certain logins like my bank accounts or even for my ODU Portal account. The next level contributes to feelings of belonging and love. I use social media and messaging apps almost every day to keep in touch with friends, family, and my girlfriend, and I also use these apps to collaborate with classmates on assignments for school. The next level is esteem. I use technology for resumes to display my relevant work skills and experience for future employers, another example can be the online ePortfolio we are working on in this class. And the top level is self- actualization or the feeling of realizing one’s full potential. Technology is full of information and although it is impossible to know everything, I strive to become knowledgeable in areas I’m interested. For example, I love to watch YouTube videos on entrepreneurship and reading articles about self-development with hopes to start implementing certain aspects into my life with the hopes of reaching my full potential in the future.
