Journal Entry #8

The “Hacker Rates 12 Hacking Scenes in Movies and TV” YouTube video demonstrates how media greatly influences our comprehension of cybersecurity. The false narrative that hacking is a simple, fast, and dazzling procedure is often presented in movies and television shows, downplaying how difficult the process is in reality. Many television and film sequences show hackers bypassing complex security measures in a matter of seconds, which is completely unrealistic. This may lead people to undervalue the skills and knowledge needed in the information technology and cybersecurity fields. Moreover, these depictions frequently prioritize the spectacle above the more significant aspects of cybercrime, such as identity theft and data breaches. This limited perspective may impede the general public’s knowledge and comprehension of the significant, persistent risks in the digital realm.
