Thus far, I have observed four of the six executive departments at AERMOR. This included the business development team, recruiting, Human Resources (HR), and IT. For the business development team, I aided in market research and Request for Information (RFI) creation. RFI is a way AERMOR can communicate with the government to obtain all the needed information to create a proposal. Once my research was complete, and we received the answers for the RFI, I aided in the writing portion of proposal creation. I learned what language to include and not to include, and how to write to what the government is asking. For Recruiting, I did extensive research into Application Tracking Systems (ATS). I compared my research against the current ATS that AERMOR uses, created a presentation, and presented it to the executives of the company for consideration for a new ATS program. In addition, I scheduled and coordinated interviews after doing candidate research. From there, I observed the interviews and participated when prompted. My time in the HR office was spent learning how to submit payroll and how to create a new payroll form for the next payroll period. I also learned how to update payroll per bonus, annual raises, terminations, and new hires. In addition, I sat in on employee onboardings to help the new recruits settle into their positions and answer any question (with the assistance of my supervisor) about benefits, hours, pay etc. For IT, I have split my time between registering computer for new employees per the contract they are assigned and learning how to use some of the software for coding.
I have learned a great amount thus far from AERMOR. My communication skills have improved tremendously since observing the executives meetings and day-to-day operations. I have also improved my computer skills and research abilities.
