During the second half of my internship, I focused on the departments of IT, finance/accounting, and contracts. For IT, I have continued working on registering computers and applying the proper software to the computers for new employees per the contract they are assigned to. I have continued my learning on how to code and create websites for the company. I also sat in on meetings with IT in regard to explaining the new systems AERMOR is transitioning to, to each department head. For finance/accounting, I observed how to verify timecards for 200+ employees. I also observed how to track each employees PTO. After observing for a few days, I verified timecards and tracked PTO on my own to implement what I have learned. From there I moved to contracts and learned how the contract department ties back to the finance/accounting department. For contracts, I learned the differences between the various types of contracts and the various types of rates that can be applied to each contract. Once I grasped the concept in the contracts department, I took on writing a contract amendment and applying the rates I learned about to that contract. During my time in contracts, I observed a lot of partnership conversations. I have been actively involved in communicating with other contracting companies to create an agreement between the two companies to work together on a project. Once we had a baseline, I was able to assist in the writing portion of the contract.
During my time in these 3 departments, my computer skills have continued to improve tremendously. I also have gained a sense of confidence in the writing style I have been able to develop during this internship.
