I have grown to be more confident both in myself and my abilities over the semester. College has made me more independent and I’ve also made a lot of good friends. I have learned how to better fight procrastination and improved my study skills. At the beginning of the semester, I expected to do well in my classes and meet new people. I’ve been doing pretty good in my classes and got all A’s except for a B in chemistry. I sort of anticipated getting a lower grade in chemistry because I’m not a science major and it’s never really been my thing. I wish I knew 14 weeks ago that the work would be easier if I simply studied more and paid attention better.

I spend more time studying now than at the beginning of the semester, especially for chemistry. I used to study alone in my room  but now I study with friends which is more effective. I used office hours which could help me next semester. I will definitely apply group studying techniques to my next semester and also study outside my room because it is more effective for my focus.

Sociology is connected to Introduction to the Health Professions because there are a lot of sociological considerations to make in the health field. Sociology brought forth a lot of reasons behind people’s perhaps unhealthy actions. It also brings forth ways that people can be socially healthy which impacts physical health. These are all considerations someone in the health field should be aware of.

I would be interested in the Librarian and Information Studies Major and the Education major. I love reading and researching and my mom is a children’s librarian. I also love working with kids and I feel like with an education major I could teach about something I’m passionate about. I used to  want to be a teacher before I became interested in speech pathology but my parents advocated against it. I would probably want to be an English, Art, or French teacher.

The benefit to having a parallel plan is that it gives me a way out if I find that I dislike the speech pathology courses or change my mind about my career, I’ll have majors that are similar in the ways that I like about speech pathology that I can choose instead.  Both of these majors could involve language or working with kids which are my favorite aspects of Speech Pathology. The courses in the majors are probably geared towards interacting with children which would help me in Speech Pathology.
