Reflection Instructions
For this assignment, please reflect on the Fall 2023 semester, and your experience as a whole. For each question, please provide a few thoughtful, well constructed sentences.
Your First Semester
- Tell us how you have grown from the beginning of the semester to now.
I have grown from the beginning of the semester to now because I have started to learn how to balance my social, work, and school life. In the beginning it was difficult but I have now learned how to manage everything and have greatly enjoyed this semester.
- What were your expectations for this year? Did this semester’s experiences meet your expectations? Explain.
My expectations were to have better time management and make new friends. This semester’s experiences did meet your expectations. I have done very well on not procrastinating every assignment. Instead I have my agenda where I have planned out each day I am going to get certain assignments done. I also have made many new friends. Whether it was through the LLC or other events I have made so many new, amazing friends.
- What is something you wish you knew 14 weeks ago?
One thing that I wish I knew 14 weeks ago is that people change and you can not stop change. Focus on yourself and do not let anyone stop you from doing what is best for yourself. I have dealt with a lot of drama for no reason and I wish I knew then that I can not change how others act.
Study Habits
- How much time do you spend studying for each class now vs. at the beginning of the semester?
I spent the same amount of time studying for each class now and at the beginning of the semester. This is because I knew I wanted to have really good grades and I knew I had to put in the work for it.
- How have your study habits changed?
They have changed from highschool to college because I didn’t really study in highschool but once I get to college I have spent hours studying because I knew college was going to be a lot harder and I have made sure to put in the hours to get good grades in college.
- Tell us about a resource that you have used/learned about this semester that will assist you next semester.
The resource that I have used this semester was the library. I have learned that being in the library helps me get my work done and also has great sources for me to use when writing research papers.
- What study habits/techniques will you use going into next semester?
Study habits I am going to use next semester is being in a room whether it’s the library or my room and make sure it’s quiet and sit there and write out what I am studying. Writing out what I need to know helps me retain the information the best.
Health Professions Learning Community
- This semester you were enrolled in at least SOC 201S, and HLTH 101. Many of you were also enrolled in CHEM 105N and CHEM 106N, and some of you were enrolled in HIST 104H with Professor White.
- On the surface these classes do not appear to be connected; however this semester each professor was intentional about drawing connections between content, and subjects discussed. Discuss the ways in which these courses are tied together.
These courses tied together in many ways. History and Sociology connected the most and in both classes the other course would be mentioned. Chemistry was then connected when talking about the medical side of all 4 of these courses. They all connected though by talking about the medical aspect of each course.
Parallel Plan
- This semester we had presentations from different majors in the College of Health Sciences as well as from different majors on campus. This was to give you an idea for possible parallel majors to your current intended major.
- Which two other majors would you be most interested in? Why?
2 other majors I would be most interested in are Nuclear Medicine and Health Administration. Both of these majors connect to what I want to do when I graduate college. Nuclear Medicine is what I wanted to do specifically when I graduate.
- What benefit is there to having a parallel plan (or two) in place?
It benefits to have a parallel plan in place in case something does not work out. Having a parallel plan gives you something to fall onto in case something does not work out with the intended plan.
- How could one or both of these two majors benefit your current intended major?
Nuclear medicine could benefit my current major because if nursing does not work out with the nuclear medicine major, you can still be a nurse after graduating.
