  • What were your results? 

My result was that my ideal role would be a Practitioner. It also said that the common health care paths I could take are dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, therapy, medicine, and nutrition with athletic traning. 

  • Did they surprise you? Why or why not? 

That did not surprise me because I want to be hands on with the patients. I like the idea of being the one that helps them.

It states that to get this job you need to have a Master’s Degree, Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program, Current VA state license, Certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA board-certification, Current CPR certification. You would also need a PA-C license , Physician Assistant License, or be a Certified Nurse Practitioner.

Skills and tasks that are involved with performing this job would be having the knowledge to be able to produce high quality medical care. You also need good communication skills and patients so that when dealing with different cases it is clear what is going on and dealing with anything the patients may struggle with.

Skills and tasks that are involved with performing this job would be staying calm under pressure because it is an urgent care facility. It also states that you need to be a lively person while keeping a relaxed working environment. You also need to be family friendly with coworkers and patients.

You would need a good amount of experience for this job because you have to have worked in long term care for 6 months and had experience with cardiology. On top of this you have to be a Nurse practitioner which already requires many hours of experience.

There are multiple degrees and certifications required. It states that to get this job you need to have 6 months experience in long-term care, a DEA License, be a Nurse Practitioner, and have experience in cardiology. 

  • What skills are and tasks are involved in performing the job you have found?

Skills and tasks that are involved with performing this job would be being friendly to everyone, while also being able to focus and perform collaborative comprehensive patient assessments. Other skills needed are being able to be consoling and caring to be able to provide emotional support to the patients and families at the hospital.

From the 3 job postings I would want the first job as a Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitoner the most. This job appeals to me the most because it falls along with exactly what I want to do when I get my nursing degree and it would let me be hands on with the patients. Skills that I already possess that would help me get this job is that I am a person who can work well with others and have good communication skills. Skills that I am still building on is my knowledge of medical care and illnesses. I am still learning these skills but will possess them in the next few years. Ways to sharpen and learn skills that I will need is by shadowing other Physician’s Assistant and  Nurse Practitioners to be able to see exactly what they do. I also need to constantly ask questions. I will better understand these skills if I am confident and not questioning what I’m doing.
