This course was my first Japanese class and has served as the basis for my study of the Japanese language. Prior to taking this course, I had no experience with understanding Japanese at all. This course focused primarily on the basics of Japanese, including learning to read and write hiragana, katakana, and basic kanji. We also learned many spoken communication skills useful in daily life, such as self-introductions and understanding the price of goods when shopping. Overall, this class focused on introducing concepts and phrases necessary for basic communication without going into much detail about grammar. Below are some examples of my coursework.
このコースで私は日本語を初めて勉強していました。その前に日本語を勉強することはぜんぜんありませんでした。このコースに日本語のきほんについて教えられました。たとえば、カタカナとかひらがなとかかんたんな漢字の読み方と書き方を学べました。それに、便利な日常生活で使うひょうげんも学べました。下にこのコースの宿題の例があります。
