This course was my first Japanese class and has served as the basis for my study of the Japanese language. Prior to taking this course, I had no experience with understanding Japanese at all. This course focused primarily on the basics of Japanese, including learning to read and write hiragana, katakana, and basic kanji. We also learned many spoken communication skills useful in daily life, such as self-introductions and understanding the price of goods when shopping. Overall, this class focused on introducing concepts and phrases necessary for basic communication without going into much detail about grammar. Below are some examples of my coursework.<\/p>\n
