The first class I’m going to be discussing is Sociology, I study for this class a little differently than I would for other classes. I study about 15-20 minutes each night by reading over all my notes that I took that day and skimming over the chapter again making sure that I have all the information I needed to gain in that chapter. The next class is American History, I read over my notes that were taken for that class that day then I go back to the key terms and look-see if I’m missing any information that we covered in that period we were talking about. Chemistry I study, with just rereading over the PowerPoints that we went over throughout class, and when it becomes test time, I use flashcards to study with. Next chemistry lab I use the pre-labs to study with which is just reading over the information we are going to be covering in a lab the next lab. In my theatre class, the way I study is I review my notes. Health professionals, I just look ahead and see what is due in the upcoming dates. In each class, I use my laptop and I also have a notebook that I write notes in, writing notes in my notebook, which helps me remember what we are currently leaming. The class that I am doing the best in right now is math, the study methods I am using is that the extra time outside of the time we have in class Is to rework the problems come up with different ways to solve and check problems to make sure I’m getting the correct answer. The class I’m not doing the best in is history, I need to start studying in groups, with study with people who are good at the class to help me learn different ways to study and have their input on how they study. When I study, I cannot sit down and stare at a computer screen for hours I will be doing it at intervals. I need to focus more on the information we learned within the first couple of weeks of school. I’m using flashcards and rewriting my notes to get a better understanding of the materials that are going to be on the exam. I’m taking advantage of my planning resources. I have the motivation to study and the reason I am taking this course is that I need it for my prerequisites for my major. If I had confusion, I would email my professor and ask for more clarification on what I am confused about. I don’t have anything that needs to be clarified. For my exams so far that I have taken, my flashcard and online quizzes worked very well. Next time I need to focus on the newer information that I struggled with when we were taking notes in class and reread information on it to understand it more. Questions I answered incorrectly were the questions that l rushed through thinking I knew the answer next time I need to slow down and read and reread the questions to make sure I have a clear understanding of the question before I answer. A good method to practice in class would be strengthening your thinking skills it will push me to think more about the topic that we are discussing in class, but to also think in more creative ways, and expand my thought process completely. The new technique that would work for me at home is the study cycle it has four stages: one is to set a goal, what you want to accomplish like the materials you want to learn, secondly you want to study with a focus so 15-30 minutes of reading and studying the information, next you give yourself a break about 10 minutes then lastly you review What you had learned. Then you would move on to the next section and/or class.
