There are many majors that can relate to cybersecurity and those same majors can be found at ODU (Old Dominion University). The four majors that I chose that were offered at ODU were Criminal justice, Computer Science, Information Technology, and Engineering. I would first like to talk about criminal justice, criminal justice relates to cybersecurity because just like cybersecurity criminal justice also protects, detects, and find an efficient way to deal with breaches of confidential information making them relate to cybersecurity very well. More so cybercrime being very closely knit with criminal justice which falls under cybersecurity. The second one is computer science since computer science and cybersecurity both deal with the study of computers and information stored on them. In-depth knowledge about computers and computing. While cybersecurity more specially goes into how to protect the information, yet they still relate by showing how the information is stored, and where, which could turn be useful to people who do cybersecurity strengthening the relation between computer science and cybersecurity. Third is information technology where it relates it cybersecurity in a way as they both protect devices and data, and they both use hardware and software to store data while cybersecurity goes above that and protects the data. The Fourth is engineering as many engineers in the field must learn many programs that cybersecurity and computer scientists must learn such as Python, Java, and C++. With computer engineering being related to cybersecurity computer engineers can design firewalls, systems, and develop system encryption which cybersecurity also deals with. With this being the same situation as the relation of computer science and cybersecurity. In conclusion there are many other majors that I did not mention that can relate to cybersecurity, with cybersecurity being an ever-evolving field many more majors in the future may be able to relate to cybersecurity.
