1. How can you tell if your computer is safe?
2. Describe three ways that computers have made the world safer and less safe.
The main ways to actually tell if your computer is safe is to delete all unknown information, test your firewall, and install antivirus software as well as VPNs. Firewalls to me are the first step of protecting your computer, making sure everything that is needed to protect you and your information is already in place. As well as making sure you can’t even access websites that are filled with viruses that would negatively affect your computer, that is initially what firewalls are for. VPNs are used to ensure your location, your IP address, as well as your computer can remain hidden and safe from whatever is trying to access you and your information. Letting you and your computer remain safe while you browse the web as long as you like to. In my honest opinion your computer is never truly safe just due to the overall fact there will always be ways to penetrate whatever defense systems you have set up in any case. Computers have given us the feeling of safety with VPNs to protect our IP addresses as well as keeping us overall hidden while we browse the internet. Computers have given us GPS and tracking devices to make us feel safer while we are traveling making sure we have the best and safest ways to our destinations. Computers have also given us alarm and defense systems to make our homes feel safer, giving us an extra step in ensuring our home safety. On the other hand computers have given us cyber bullying which has been the main force in bullying and harassment in the past decade. Computers have also made the crime rate rise over the years due to how easy it is for hackers to access whatever info you have if you don’t have the right security defenses in place. Lastly computers have also made it easier for stalkers and crimes of that nature just by how easy it is to track people through the internet and social media with app tracking being the leading factor in this cause.
