1. Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals.
2. Compare cybersecurity risks in the U.S. and another country.
The four main ethical issues that come with storing electronic information are websites that use your Data, Data selling, Data deletion as well as Data breaches. The main website that uses nearly everyone’s information and data is the fan favorite Google. A website that we know, love, and trust with our information. But Google can’t always be deemed safe or trustworthy for they are eligible to get hacked just like any other website though they will have stronger defenses in place it is still a chance that someone gets past them. Yes it is a very convenient thing to store your information in something that is for the most part very safe, but we never know where our information is going or where it is stored. The second step is data deletion where users like us would like to erase or delete what we have been storing in the “cloud” . It may seem easy just a click of a button and boom we have deleted everything we have stored. The problem with that is it is never that simple, that’s where the term digital footprint comes from because what we are attempting to delete will never really be gone or deleted there will still always be a way to access it from somewhere. Data selling comes in when we talk about websites that have a middle man who also has access to our information who sometimes sells our information for whatever weird and twisted reason. We as the users never know when wherever our information is being stored has a system breach and our data at risk which is the biggest issue with data breaches we never truly know until it is too late. The U.S. compared to a country like North Korea is higher at risk to cyber threats due to how open we are with our internet rules and safety unlike North Korea who has a strict policy when it comes to data and their internet use.
