There are four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals. The first ethical issue is privacy issues.  Privacy deals with storing and collecting information. Is your information being exposed and compromised? The second ethical issue is accuracy. Accuracy deals with how accurate the information is. This is especially important when storing health records, the information needs to be up to date.  If the information is not updated on a regular basis and is up to date it could affect the patient and how the person receives treatment.  This could lead to a life-or-death situation. The third ethical issue is property. Who does this information belong to and what kind of value does this information hold?  Security breaches are happening on a regular basis and companies are failing to disclose this information.  In addition, Companies are also selling people’s information to third party companies for personal gain.  The fourth ethical is access. Who has access to the information and how long should this information be stored?  How is the data being stored and is it actually protected?  These ethical issues are becoming more of a concerning issue.  We as humans are not only being exposed to a plethora of information, but we are also putting ourselves at risk by exposing our personal information People in general do not think they are at risk just because they are not on social media, etc., and that is far from the case.  If you have visited a hospital, store, etc. your information is out there.  Lastly, we to be educated and educate others on the importance of ethical issues when companies are storing electronic information and who it actually effects. We need to hold all companies to a higher standard of which our information is property stored, accessed, updated and secure.
