PROMPT: Review the NICE Workforce Framework. Are there certain areas that you would want to focus your career on? Explain which areas would appeal the most to you and which would appeal the least.

The work roles included in the NICE Workforce Framework that I’d most want to explore are investigation and PD (protection and defense). The investigation role directly contains both fields I want to pursue after college, cybercrime investigation and digital evidence analysis. These interest me because I am fascinated with the idea that in today’s world, crime always leaves a digital trace, and enjoy seeing how this digital evidence ties into real life legal deviancy. Otherwise, the protection and defense area also emphasizes cybercrime, but instead of physical crimes, responds to digital threats.

The role least appealing to me is oversight and governance. While I acknowledge the importance of people in these roles, they mainly seemed concerned with the red tape of cybersecurity, whereas I’m more interested in the hands-on work the field has to offer.
