For this assignment, please reflect on the Fall 2021 semester, and your experience as a whole. For each question, please provide a paragraph length response.
- Your first semester:
- Tell us how you have grown from the beginning of the semester to now.
- What were your expectations for this year?
- Did this semester’s experiences meet your expectations? Explain.
- What is something you wish you knew 14 weeks ago?
How I have grown from the beginning of the semester is that my academic efforts to my classes have elevated, my work ethic towards my work and class work has improved. My expectations for this year were to study and work as hard as I possibly could. To also be engaged in class activities and readings, so that I may be knowledgeable of what the topic may be. Courses move faster than highschool so I would have to be on top of all my work. Lastly, one expectation for this college is to read the syllabus for the information that I may need. Mostly, yes my experience did meet my expectations but, there were definitely some things that I experienced this semester that I was not knowledgeable about that would definitely catch my attention. One thing that I wish I knew 14 weeks ago would definitely be the library would become my best friend. I spend most of my time in the library. Although I have a laptop and many spaces in the dorm, the only place that I can actually concentrate and be engaged in my work would be the library.
- Study Habits
- How much time do you spend studying for each class now vs. at the beginning of the semester?
- How have your study habits changed?
- Tell us about a resource that you have used/learned about this semester that will assist you next semester.
- What study habits/techniques will you use going into next semester?
For each class, I usually spend about 2 hours for each class except chemistry. I take a bit longer with that class just because that is the class I struggle with the most. Before, I would usually take longer and have several breaks for each but, with trying to practice time management I have to set my time accordingly. My study habits have changed by the information I collect from all of my classes. In class, I write down important information that will help me with understanding the topics and also when I have quizzes and tests approaching. For chemistry I usually try to write down the objectives from the exam and write down the information from them. One resource that I have used and learned about this semester that can assist me in the next semester is concentration. When it comes to being in the library and taking further actions to better myself and education, and also reading more information ahead of time leads to helpful resources. The study habits and techniques that I will use next semester would definitely be going to the library. WIthin just going to the library also getting ahead of my day by attending my classes, taking adequate notes and doing some readings before class.

- Which event was most beneficial for you as a student, and why?

These courses are tied together by each of them connecting it to health. In each class throughout this semester we have learned the different ways that health is incorporated to all of the courses. In chemistry we get to learn more about the inside of the body and what happens, in sociology we realize why the mind thinks the way it does and how sociology can be an effect in the healthcare community. Health 101 does a great job with showing different aspects of the types of things in healthcare and History shows us a big part of how healthcare lived up to this time. The event that I believe was the best for me was definitely the paint night that we had last Thursday. It really made me think about healthcare in different aspects. This event was something that I was unacknowledged about and I got to understand another way of health.
