4 Majors that are related to Cybersecurity offered by ODU.

In this journal I will be discussing how 4 majors offered by ODU relate to cybersecurity. The first major that I will be discussing that relates to cybersecurity is criminology. Criminology and cyber security are related in that cybercrime is a real thing, hence why cybersecurity is necessary. Criminology and cyber security combined provide us with a thorough understanding of the motivations, causes and consequences of crimes, as well as the technical skills, tools, and cybersecurity literacy to help prevent and combat cyber crime and cyber terrorism, we can learn what measures to take to combat cyber crime and cyber terrorism. Another major that has relations with cybersecurity is accounting. Now, you may ask why accounting is related to cybersecurity, but cybersecurity actually plays a huge roll in successful accounting. As accounting plays such an role in society and withhold financial information, accounting firms are a prime target for cyber terrorism and various other cyber crimes. Now how should accounting firms approach the cybersecurity aspect of their business? Accounting firms are advised to hire either a cybersecurity professional or a entire cybersecurity firm depending on the amount of data stored, and they can help determine vulnerabilities. Sociology is another major that relates to cybersecurity because of the fact that while the definition of sociology is the studying of humans and their behavior, sociologists are important into discovering why a person may decide to commit a cybercrime/cyberterrorism. These studies can help determine also what tools and methods the hacker may have used in order to gain access to the data/components, and how they figured those methods out. Cybersecurity is related to forms of engineering as well, due to the fact that cybersecurity and cyber engineers incorporate not only electrical engineering, but computer science(another major cybersecurity is related to) to understand cyberspace. Cyber engineers use skills developed in digital forensics, security policy and network defense to perform cybersecurity tasks, as well as tasks involving engineering hardware and software.
