Cybersecurity technology and cybersecurity itself interests me because of the wide variety of technologies and cybersecurity events cybersecurity professionals have to deal with. The cybersecurity field is also ever growing and is a continued necessity as life continues to move forward, and with that more things in the world rely on technology, and with technology comes threats, and cybersecurity professionals will be needed more than ever. As mentioned, as cybersecurity has a ever expanding scope, it also presents the ultimate growth potential for both my career path and for learning opportunities. Another reason I am interested in the field is because of the different cybersecurity situations I may/will be working with, such as a malware attack, viruses, data breaches and DDoS attacks, all of which have interested me for years. And while working with the cybersecurity situations, I will also be in a sense making a impact, whether it be for my company or for a much broader organization, in that I will be helping to keep sensitive components or data safe. For example, when the Equifax hack occurred, which involved pacemakers in elderly patients, a huge recall occurred and it affected over 145 million Americans, and cybersecurity professionals helped resolve the situation and protect the new pacemakers. Another important aspect in the cybersecurity field and the technology involved is a job in cybersecurity is, for the most part, very secure. As mentioned, with the world shifting more and more things online and also more companies begin to use robotics for things, whether it be manufacturing or even to take orders, cybersecurity professionals will be necessary in order to prevent the various attacks from shutting down the technology at hand. My interest in cybersecurity technology and the field itself has grown a lot in the last few years, much so that I switched my major to CYSE, and a huge reason for it is because of the factors I discussed. I look forward to learning more about the cybersecurity field.
